Spiraling in blanks

Just got an NFC 4 and 6 WT blank. I can see spiraling by the ferrules. Is that normal? They are the classics.

When the blanks are rolled they are covered in cellophane tape in a spiral patten to hold it in shape until the blank is heated and the resin cures. This leaves spiral ridges on the blank when the tape is removed. It may well be that the blank wasn't sanded enough to completely remove the extra resin and still shows some of the spiral pattern.

So should I just leave it and build the rod?

I have a 5wgt, and it’s normal for the NFC fly rod blanks. The fly rods blanks are sanded smooth, and the spiraling you see is not due to resin ridges caused by the cellophane wrap, but to the wrapped CF around the ferrule. Should be no problem.
