Miss the old Gudebrod color preserver. I do not care for the water based cp's and can't seem to find a good one that holds the butt wraps in place so they can be trimmed and finished off. Has anyone found a good product that holds the treads in place so they can be wrapped off without unraveling.

I typically wrap over the threads before applying color preserver, so the overwrap is what holds them in place. However, if you're wanting to do this with color preserver you might still be able to do it with a water based brand provided you do not thin it.

Flexcoat cp will hold it in place. Use at least 2 coats.
