Has anyone made a kite rod. If so what and where did you get all the parts. Thanks Re: Kite rod build

Hello Jarrod.
Are you going to kite fish from a boat or shore? Do you want the kite rod (Short Heavy Glass usually) or the fighting rod? Are you going after any type of fish or something specifically? What line class for fighting rod or kite size to figure #test to fly the kites you plan on using? Do you want an aluminum butt or just a slick butt? For the Kite MudHole has a 4'6" blank in either XH (40-60#) or XXH (50-80#). Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: Kite rod build

From boat. Fish for kingfish, sailfish and everything else.looking for short heavy rod. Will be using light and semi light kites. Possibly helium ballons as well. Probably aluminum butt. Re: Kite rod build

Hello Jarrod.
You can cut them off, you want about 36" total length. For light kites the PTSW54XH should work once cut to size. Good Luck. Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: Kite rod build

Jarrod - I've built some kite rods. I used solid glass blanks, slick butt, Fuji seat, eva foregrip, one guide and tiptop. An Aftco swivel top would be a plus but expensive.
