When selecting a rod blank what are your top seven priorities, in descending order?

Will it fish good?
Will it cast good?
Will it be easy to clean the bait goo, fish slime and scales off it?
Is it pretty?
Do the thread wraps match my eyes?
Guess I only have 5.

Are the power and action right for what I'm planning?

Is it reasonably light?

Is the price right for the particular blank?

Is it a well-known brand with a good reputation?

Can I get CCS numbers for the blank?

Is its finish handsome?

Please, no lectures about how I will know the power and action are right. I'll just know.

I only have 6, I guess. I get my blanks without thread wraps so I don't have to worry about matching my eyes. :-)

I only build fly rods, so am very familiar with many of the blanks offered.

1.) Is it the right choice for my customer.
2.) Is it right for their intended use.
3.) Does it fit their casting ability
4.) Is it within their budget.
5.) Can I get it in time.

LOL Terry ..... OUTSTANDING!!!

For me it depends on what I will be using the rod for, but the 3 things I consider first and foremost regardless of what the rod will be used for are ...

1) Power
2) Action
3) Length

After that the color of the blank would be number 4,

The other things like blank weight, and its ability to transmit vibration are totally dependent on its intended use.
Price is the last thing I consider. The way I see it, you have to pay to play..
