All.
I have a rod that was built in Florida about 50 years ago. The rear grip is wrapped with a rope or paracord type of material. The owner wants it redone. Any ideas of what was used back then? Re: 50 Year old rod question

Just rewrap with paracord. Re: 50 Year old rod question

Roger,
It may be what I have to do, but it is not what he wants...Trying to do my due diligence before I tell him... Re: 50 Year old rod question

Most likely just nylon cord. Cut the end and see if it is a style with a core and a cover. If not, it's likely to just be nylon cord.

Tom,
Wish I could post a picture of it. I cut it and it almost feels like leather, but it has a core and at some pint was covered with some sort of protector... Re: 50 Year old rod question

You can post a photo on the photo page. You will have to register there and log in as it is a different website, but that might help us determine what you have.

You said paracord is not what he wants, what does he want? Re: 50 Year old rod question

Tarred Twine was most likely used Re: 50 Year old rod question

Rawhide lacing, the same stuff used to tie up your boots years ago. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: 50 Year old rod question

He wants what was originally on it. Looking back at the pieces it looks like nylon cord as Tom posted. I am working with the customer to have him decide on new twine or para-cord...Thanks for all your time.. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
