I completed my build last night. I'd made some minor winding mistakes that I was able to correct. I used Snake brand guides and stripper, Piscofin 3 weight floating line, Rio trout leader, and SA Tippet. I purchased a cokr handle kit instead of buying the reel seat and handle sesperately. I took it out on the grass today for a test drive. Now I own a Shakespear 5 weight, a Winston BX3 7 weight as well. I have premium SA line on both the 5 and seven weight poles. They both cast we, with as expected, the Winston being the better of the two. But i have to say, that the new CTS casts more smoothly, and reaches out to 40 feet effortlessly. It has absolutely the best feel of the three rods. I can't hardly weight to fish with it. I'm just waiting for the State of Colorado to get my licence, that I bought a month ago, to me. If you wonder if CTS is worth the cost of their blanks, IMHO, they are worth every penny.
I'm just so happy with the rod that I had to tell someone. Tight Lines ans frisky fish RJF Re: CTS Quartz CristalG;ass build

Robert,
I'm glad to hear that you are so happy with the rod. Yes - your opinion is shared by many who have made the leap to CTS. The glass is sweet - but the carbon blanks are awesome tools. Light, cast effortlessly, and have an amazing recovery rate to generate high line speed. Yes - more expensive than some blanks. But a fraction of a Sage blank. And even more affordable after the discount I offer RB.ord members. Regards, Herb Distrib. CTS Rod Blanks. Re: CTS Quartz CristalG;ass build

CTS doesn’t get a lot of mentions over on the fiberglass forum, but I am very pleased with the 804-3 Quartz I built two years ago. A few days ago I fished Tricos, then later terrestrials, with it. The rod made delicate, accurate presentations and I was fortunate enough to land some sizable trout.
