Blank Damage Question

I am currently building on a NFC DS 721 X-ray blank. At the tip one of the fibers was separating from the blank (less than an inch of separation). I was planning on wrapping over the entire section and epoxying it to prevent failure. Unfortunately, during the wrapping process I broke the little fiber wisp. The fiber didn’t separate further and I finished the wrap and applied a light coat of epoxy. Do you think that the rod will be ok? The damage is only in about a 3/4” section which is just a hair longer than the tip tip tube.
Thanks in advance, Dan Re: Blank Damage Question

I think the rod will be OK. I've had rods that were much worse than you describe work well for years. I would fish it and forget it. Re: Blank Damage Question

Dan
Fish the rod the way it is if it gives you trouble cut the tip off and install another. As a rule I always inspect the tip and if necessary I trim it back until the tip is clean and sound. Cutting some off the tip is not catastrophi the rod will work fine.. Re: Blank Damage Question

If your tiptop trim wrap extends back over the delaminated area, you will probably be okay. The extreme tip of the blank never takes a very sharp bend.
