I just received my New 3 weight, 7"6" Quartz Crystal Glass rod blank today, and am looking forward to buiolding this rod. I have looked up several online charts, and they all differ a bit. Does anyone have experince with this rod build, and if so, is there a recommended rod guide spacing chart?

There isn't one look in the library, static distribution test, near the bottom of the page.

Start with any chart, and then adjust as necessary.

I will add this - the butt guide (stripping guide) should be located 32 inches from the rear of the reel seat.

Here is a fly rod guide spacing calculator that will give you a good starting point to use for your static test. As Tom mentions 32" from butt to stripping guide works very well.

I do a static test on my staircase. Just wondered what is the proper way. I have two NFC fly rod blanks on order will be the first fly rod I have built I am also curious how to get the spacing

The two line method is far superior to the one line in that the guides are not used to load the blank. Therefore they may easily be moved without unloading the rod.

I'm not confident a single guide placement plan is best for fly casters of all different abilities and all different casting styles.

I just want to chime in and say thanks to everyone. I followed your advise, learned how to do the two-line static test, and what to look for. My guides are spaced a bit differently than what was recommended in the guide placement charts, and load the blank more uniformly.

As an addition, CTS places tiny white marks on their blanks to show where the spine is located. I checked the spine using the flex test on all four sections and found the provided marks were just a bit off center. Just a heads-up on that one.

If you want to hold your guides in place to test the rod flex yet still be able to slide/move the guides and not leave adhesive on the blank I suggest going to a sewing supply store and getting a couple spools of elastic thread. If you take 5-6 tight turns of elastic thread around a guide foot and tie a square knot to secure the thread it will hold the guide tight to the blank for testing but still allow you move the guide an inch or two. When you go to remove the wraps just touch them with a razor blade, the elastic thread will literally jump off the blank, and it will leave NO adhesive gumming up the blank
