A bumper or rub prevention guide is a single guide placed on a rod to keep the line from rubbing the blank, a transition guides are used to carry the line around a blank, usually 3 guides or more. Pretty much, yes. Although you can have a single guide serve at a transition guide if it is used to redirect the line path. There is a such a thing as a single 90 degree transition spiral, but it is not a Simple Spiral.
