I am looking for 3 blanks that are 4’ 6” (54”) long that I can use to build spinning rods for my 3 youngest grandchildren. I have looked at all the suppliers on the side panel, and no one lists that size. The blanks had a size 5 tip, and a butt diameter of of .27. Action was medium to fast.
I had bought a couple of these blanks at Mudhole about 2 years ago. They were clearance or close outs in a tube by the door, and I bought 3. I now have 2 more grandkids, and want to make the same for them. The rods turned out well, as I turned spinning seats, and a grip for them. If you can recommend a place to buy, or have anything, I would appreciate it. Thanks Bert Re: 4’ 6” Blank for kids rod

I have built many of these for my own use and kids from E-glass blanks by cutting as much as two feet from the butt..they are very light and durable.. Re: 4’ 6” Blank for kids rod

Thanks for the input!
Are the fiberglass blanks very “whippy”? I have never built a fiberglass rod. Are you using tubular or solid blanks? Thanks Bert Re: 4’ 6” Blank for kids rod

I bought 3 6 ft. Fiberglass blanks from Mudhole last year and cut them down o 5 ft. To make rods for my grand daughters for Christmas. They were casting rods with pistol grips for spin cast reels. They worked out good. Re: 4’ 6” Blank for kids rod

I know they are a foot longer, but the IS561L that Mud Hole sells in the CRB color series of blanks is a fun little rod. I have one that I built for my wife and one I built for my son. Both are spiral wrapped casting rods meant to pair with little Zebco 11 reels. They make for a great little rod that will handle the transition from bobber fishing to throwing small jigs, inline spinners, and other small lures that catch a lot of fish.
Another one that I built for my daughter is on a little 5' glass blank from Rainshadow, I think it was the SPG600. Its a real whippy rod that is fund with little bluegills. I don't think they make it anymore, but the 601 might be a little closer to what you are looking for. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
