So I decide no more fingers on threads and purchase these hidden devices. Put the reel on and locking nut bottoms out before reel is secured. .Any one experience this? Only solution I see is to remove some of the reel seat material. Thanking all in advance.

Yes. Put the hidden thread hood on the reel seat screw it all the way down and cut off the threads that protrude above the hidden hood tube. If you have already glued the cork, Eva or carbon fiber sleeve in place then remove the hidden thread hood from the reel seat and cut back the reel seat threads until the hood no longer bottoms out. Easy enough to do and will solve your problem.

Caution, Caution, Caution.

Many folks, like myself - end up wishing to install a different reel/s on a rod over time. Many folks own and use a fishing rods for many many years.
In that time, technology changes and from time to time fishing folks may purchase many different fishing reels for their use.

The size and length of reel feet are not all the same. As a result, if one sizes the reel seat to accommodate one particular reel, that may happen for have a rather short reel foot - a larger reel foot reel - that may be wished to be installed on the rod may not fit.

I had this exact thing happen to a rod that I had built with a significantly cut down number of threads on the reel seat to eliminatae any threads from showing.

This was one of my favorite rods and I was not about to change the reel seat or anything else on the rod. So, I bit the bullet, and chopped off length from the reel seat and then milled off the top of the shorter reel seat foot - to add the appropriate shape to the top of the reel foot

As a result of that experience, I now - never shorten the number of threads on the reel seats.

But, it is your choice.

There is absolutely no problem in cutting the threads back on a reel seat with a hidden thread hood, because there is no fore grip glued on the blank to block the hood from moving forward. The fore grip is is now glued to the hood and thus is moveable and can actually move beyond the end of the threaded barrel of the reel seat. Same principle are a no fore grip handle. I love hidden thread hoods and use them all the time with no problems using different reels of different sizes. Fear not! It will work. If you are using a hook keeper, just make sure it is far enough forward not to hinder or block the hoods movement forward.
