I stumbled upon a 10' 4 piece 3wt blank. I don't remember buying it and not sure of the brand but I'm guessing I was thinking euro nymphing rod. I typically use Sage's rod building page as a starting point. It looks like they changed their ESN line from snakes to single foot guides. I'm thinking of doing the same but would love some suggestions never having use single foot guides before. Does Sage's suggestion of upping two sizes hold true? Recommendations for sizes and taper? Thanks!

Depends - wire to wire guides - then no. Use same size.
There is no difference in clearance from a s/f to a snake IN SAME MANUFACTURER. The only difference in clearance is about 18% more clearance as a result of the open sides of a snake. But that won't make any difference in casting. Just in threading fly line through guides. If you are considering ringed guides - then yes. But I have no idea why you would go with ringed guides on a 3wt nymphing rod. Herb Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
