Centerpin handle length

I'm building my first centerpin rod and was wondering how to determine the length of the rear grip. I see a mixed bag of lengths when I look at others. I'm thinking a short grip for my current rod because it is on the short side for a centerpin rod at 10'6" I have a second one that will be longer at 13' and I am sure a longer rear grip wil suit that better
Thanks as always Re: Centerpin handle length

Another datapoint for you. The 12' lami redline has a 23in handle. Re: Centerpin handle length

Lots of variations in cp grips. Some on the west coast here have rear grips as short as 4”. I’ve seen east coast grips with the reel all the way at the front to try and balance their long rods. I like something in the middle most of my rods have a 7” rear and 10” fore. An easy and versatile solution is a Tennessee handle where you can place the reel wherever you’d like. Probably the best idea if you are not sure. Re: Centerpin handle length

Thanks , I am not a fan of Tennessee grips. I'll mock up what I have and see how it balances out I guess. I wasn't sure if there was a reason other than balance. I get the rear grip isn't doing much Re: Centerpin handle length

Mock it up without the grips on it and than just move it back and forth till you get what feels right to you than build it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
