Can I do This?

Question for you more experienced rod gurus. I have a carbon fiber rear grip that is capped off with the ol standard fuji eva foam but cap. I want to wrap some metallic thread (basically a trim band) at the joint where the butt cap meets the grip for accent. Wrap it right into the little seam that is there. If I do this, I will have to then put rod finish over the threads and slightly onto the CF grip and EVA butt cap. Can I do this? See any potential problems?
Thanks! Re: Can I do This?

No problem to do. Just try and keep the finish nice and narrow and the edges clean and straight. The shiny finish will really show off against the flat eva and carbon fiber making any imperfections very noticeable. Other option is there are trim bands available. Thin aluminum in various colors. Most tend to be around 1" od and 3/4" id. Mudhole has a good selection. Re: Can I do This?
