Hello,
Can you mix thread sizes for inlay work? I am practicing JTOB and my leaf inlays don’t show well. I am using size A thread, I am going to try using D for the inlay, and A for the main Wrap. It seems like most of the tutorials are done using size D thread. All opinions are welcomed. Thanks Re: JTOB Thread Size

Though not sure if you will be able to see it in the branch or other inlays laying against d thread Re: JTOB Thread Size

A little more practice, changed colors and I think It is much better. I was doing Lime green Main wrap with Black inlay I switched to Black Main wrap with Lime green inlay. Metallic green trim band. Thanks for the advise the twist helped when doing the Counter clockwise leaves. Re: JTOB Thread Size

Scott,
Try doubling the main thread( use 2 threads) and doubling the inlay thread, also continue wrapping a second revolution, line up the second "leaf" so it starts in the middle of the previous "leaf". Hope that made sense? TJ Re: JTOB Thread Size

Scott,
As you apparently discovered, I have found JTOBs generally look better if the main thread is darker and the inlayed leaves are lighter; it seems to hold true with modified JTOBs as well. I use various forms of JTOBs frequently and have not experienced any issue with them “showing” with either A or D thread.
