Does anyone have any suggestion for thread clors for this blank. I'm open to conservative to wild combinations. I figure if you're not getting fish that day, you may as well look good.

If the 896 is the same color blank as my 696. I used black w/ gold tipping and thought it looked pretty good. You might try and match or coordinate your thread with the highlights in the reel sean.

I just built one using cobalt blu with green trim and no color preserver. My butt wraps were then done in a "spiral effect" going from the deepest blu to the lightest green. When the sunlight hit the rod the colors were phenomonal.

Well , Medium green (6779 for Gudebrod) , No Color Preserver, and no trim wraps!
