Hi. Sorry to post again but I really appreciate and value your knowledge and opinions. I want to build a shorter ( 6-6' 6") light spinning rod for some of the smaller streams here in Utah. Looking at North forks IM and Rodgeeks carbon 4. I don't even know if they are apples to apples but those are the two I have been looking at. I have built on. North Forks and like that rod and the company. I have always been a St. Croix lover and used to build on their blanks when I could get them. I would appreciate anybody's opinion. Thanks! I have more than five rods from each of these two rod making lineages (both have changed ownership or corporate structure), with each rod being for a different use. With the exception of my fly rods, it's rare that I fish with a blank from another maker. I also wrapped most of these rods. I have rods from the specific series you mentioned. I have never found a consistent advantage during building or fishing between one of these makers or series over the other. They are both great and consistent product lines. I pick whichever one has the closest blank to what I am trying to accomplish with the build. If they both do, I lean towards St. Croix for their maybe smoother taper and the fully finished over the un-sanded option. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/13/2020 11:16PM by Kendall Cikanek. Thanks Kendall! I ordered a North Forks just because Rodgeeks wasn't shipping. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
