I was lucky enough to win a LAMIGLAS TIMS 78ml TITANIUM blank at the rodcrafters seminar in Kissimmee,Fla the end of October. While talking about it some one mentioned that you do not use epoxy when putting on a cork butt on titanium rods. From the literature it says use a "aerospace bonding agent". Where would you get such a bonding agent for 1 rod without spending a arm or leg for it? Would a cork butt be best or use a shaped rear grip of HYPALON? What would be the best?. After all how many times would a person get a titaniun blank? Iam also looking for snake guides for spinning rods 30 to size 8. Any help would be appreciated. Dick Zrudsky bonding agent

I assumed that epoxy was an 'aerospace bonding agent'. Have I missed something? Re: bonding agent

Epoxy will work fine. Someone is pulling your leg. They don't want you using Elmers or something like that so they ask for an aerospace bonding agent in the instructions. Epoxy is an aerospace bonding agent. Re: bonding agent

Dick, As the above mentioned individuals stated, the Epoxy is what you want. If more info is need on the properties of epoxy, the epoxy GURU Ralph O' Quinn is your contact. Be prepared to get educated, he is the best. Good Luck, Pat Barnard Re: bonding agent

Dick, At the risk of Ralph coming to offer a toast with sippin' scotch, (re. a previous post on finishes I'd rather forget). I'll take a chance and say U-40 Rod Bond would be your best bet for a bonding product to use in affixing the handle. I believe it is a true rod building, and not exclusively an 'aerospace' product that was developed for Rod Building intentions. I haven't had any problems with it's use of titanium coated fly reel seats, so it should be probably the best consideration in your choice for the titanium butt. And you are looking for a size 30 snake guide?? We've got snake and fly components you might consider. Ask for a catalog or email me direct. Rich Richard's Rod & Reel.
