I opened up a new set (set was in plastic bag with two syringes) of U-40 Resin and Hardner today in order to finish a fly rod. The resin bottle's contents are not liquid, but more like the consistency of a thick, pasty gel. I am finding it hard to believe that is the norm. It was so thick, that the included syringe could not function properly. Can someone please tell me how the U-40 Resin should look. Re: U-40 Resin

It has crystallized, which is fairly common. Just warm it up in the microwave for 10 to 20 secs. The crystals should turn back to the liquid form with a little heat with no adverse affects.

Hello David, Don’t forget to leave the lid off the bottle when you microwave the resin. I would add that doing three five second bursts, checking the resin in between, might avoid overheating the resin.
