Hello
I am making a Split Grip Spinning Rod with CFX Grips and a CRB Comfort Palm Swell Reel seat. I am coating the grips with Pro Kote, and I plan on finishing them with Rodancer. I need to trim the grip to fit into the handle. Can I cut the grip and create a tenon? I was thinking I can cut the Carbon where it fits inside the handle and that would create enough relief for the grip to fit inside the handle. Then topcoat with Varnish.Or should I try and trim the inside of the handle? I have done one other rod like this and the taper of the grip fit in the handle. I now realize I ordered the wrong components, but I want to see if I can make it work. Hope this makes sense. Thanks Scott Re: Shaping CFX Handle

If you don't want to risk cutting the grip, a 17 mm Aero grip would probably fit right over grip you have. I know a standard OD casting rod grip of any configuration I have used slips right in. Re: Shaping CFX Handle

That sounds like a solid plan. I may take your advice, or I may try to trim it. I seem to be get a collection of reel seats I can’t use. I will see if I can get the id of the 17 handle. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
