Hopkins and Holloway Guides to Replace Insert Guides

I have decided to replace the insert guides on an old fly rod to see if I can tell the difference in the action of the blank and have decided to use single foot wire Seymo (Hopkins and Holloway) guides. I am placing the H&H guides in the same locations as where the insert guides were.
Should I use the "low" version of the guide or the "standoff" version of the guide? Or, does it not matter? The next question is what Size # wire guide is equivalent to the 8mm insert guides I was using as running guides (Fuji Ti SIC)? Seems like a #4 or maybe even a #5 in the single foot wire guides? Thank you in advance. Re: Hopkins and Holloway Guides to Replace Insert Guides

No reason for a "standoff guide" as the guides are under the blank. #4 are fine. Re: Hopkins and Holloway Guides to Replace Insert Guides

Hi, Phil.
Were the stand off guides invented for use on other types of rods? Thanks, Tony Re: Hopkins and Holloway Guides to Replace Insert Guides

The standoffs are just far enough to make Forhan wraps easy and were the only ones Angler's Workshop carried. I used a lot of Black Diamond finished guides. Sage use to use them, still may, they made the first thin wire guides I'm aware of. Re: Hopkins and Holloway Guides to Replace Insert Guides
