I have a honey yellow Fenwick fiberglass FL 84-5 , i was thinking of cutting and installing spigot ferrules. I would like to make it into a three piece rod. Has anyone used this Fenwick blank what are your thoughts ?

Carl,
Consider investigating the FG ferrule system I developed before proceeding. Search “CARL” (Constant Arc Rod Link) in the forum and photo sections. Contact me with further questions.

i like using a three sided file because it doesn,t create any carbon or glass air born dust..

To cut blanks or solid stock, or brass, aluminum , or steel, I use a modified miniature chop saw obtained from Harbor freight:
I replaced the saw blade with a 3 inch abrasive cut off wheel. It cuts anything that is put in front of it.

Thin wheel, so minimal cutting dust or debris:

I removed the saw from the base. Removed everything on the cutting surface of the saw.
Took a piece of 1/4 x 1/4 angled aluminum and used it to make a backing stop for the saw. Then, mounted the back stop on the base with machine screws. When I mounted the back stop, I made sure that I was mounting the stop at 90 degrees to the cut off wheel.
Then, I dropped the spinning wheel through the back stop to make a wheel width cut through the back stop. In use, just hold the item next to the back stop and put the spinning wheel through the material being cut.

Take care
