Sent them an email earlier today, got an email back saying that they'll send me a new blank. I was also told that I can keep the blank, so I'm thinking that I'll spiral wrap this rod with cheaper Alconite guides.

Should I cut the 1 inch kink off the top? Would it impede casting if I don't? I guess the tip would be in a strange position, but the tip would be swinging while the lure is flying anyways...

All in all, I'm really pleased with NFC's customer service. I was hesitant in ordering after reading posts about indefinite wait times and lack of communication, but I have had the opposite experience. I hope that means that they've made improvements.

If you cut an inch off a very sensitive rod, you may effectively ruin the rod.

Take care

Got an email back from NFC that the new blank will be shipped out today. I've had an amazing customer service experience from Ashlynn. I may have gotten lucky, but I really hope that my experience means that they've severely improved their customer service.

As for the first blank, I decided to build it into a spinning rod for a co-worker. It'll cost him all of 70 dollars for the parts. He typically uses under 100 dollar spinning combos, so this will be quite an upgrade for him. It'll be my gift to him for taking me out on a kayak fishing trip last month. He'll be using it for freshwater bass and inshore redfish and sea trout fishing. I think that he really won't notice the defects too much. I'll fish it a few times before handing it over to him to make sure it's not going to break on him.

I'll update once the rods have been built.
