Don, much cleaner than what I do, but I'm concerned that you get only about a half inch of epoxy at each end. Must be enough or you wouldn't recommend it, but can you elaborate on why we don't need more area glued? thanks, Mick

You glue the tube hitting any and all area that you can... everything in between the ends (the cut outs) does not make contact with the tube (or larger blank).

The gluing areas will be different depending on the seat model. The video will make more sense when you have one in your hand.

The arbors that you place on the ends of the tube will be your main contact between the blank and the seat.
