Does anyone have experience with using prokote high build and original together? Say Original for first coat and thread penertraition then high build as build coats? Or does anyone mix them together?

I build heavy duty Topwater and Jigging rods (GT, Dogtooth tuna etc) Normally apply 4 coats of original. While this works a treat Im hoping to reduce wastage and time. Thinking I could get away with 1 coat of original, 1 coat of high build then 1 finish coat of original.

Is the cured flexibility the same in both ? Prokote original is tried and tested on my rods with no cracking and non yellowing, holds up to brute fish. Don't want to mess with it but if they work together Id consider it.

You will have no problem putting the high build prokote over the original prokote. I do it all the time. They stick to each other just fine.

I personally mix prokote original with d2. Prokote lays down beautifully, but cures a bit soft. The addition of d2 really hardens it up, and speeds up drying time. Play around with different mixes and see what you like.
