With the time I have lately I thought I would build a new 7 weight fly rod for fishing streamers. I have used one of the new G Loomis IMX Pro's in 7 wt and loved it for this application especially with sink tip lines, and throwing bass bugs too. It has been a while since I have made a rod up and discovered my favorite St Croix SCV blanks are not available anymore. I thought the saltwater version of that blank, with a stiffer tip section, would be pretty close to the G Loomis IMX Pro action. Does anyone have any input on choice of a blank of similar character for this application? Thanks all, and its nice "to be back"...! Re: Rod blank selection

Rod Geeks may have blanks similar to your St. Croix. This topic is way out of my wheelhouse, but I'd look to them first. Re: Rod blank selection

I like my Temple Forks BVK rod with REC snake guides as much or more than any fly rod I have built or even cast, even my SCV - but I like a fast-action rod, and not everyone does. Re: Rod blank selection

I built a 5 wt and an 8 wt on the BVK blanks and they are great blanks. You also may want to look at the NFC fly rod blanks, they are a lot like the G Loomis NRX blanks. Re: Rod blank selection

Thanks, those blanks are not budget busters either. Looks like I have a new project! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
