I know a lot of guys use 3 or 4 guides to transition to the bottom of the blank but wasn't there another method that only used 1 small guide at a 90 from the stripper guide? Thanks Sam Re: Spiral Wrap

Sam,
A spiral wrap can be done in any way you wish to move the line from one side of the rod to the other. You can use 0 guides, 1,2,3,4 or 5 guides to the other side of the rod. Use the system that makes you comfortable and gives you the results that you wish to have. Hence the reason for the words, Custom Rod Building. Best wishes. Re: Spiral Wrap

Remember that you do not have to "transition" the line to the bottom of the rod - it will go there naturally if you'll let it.
There is a method called a 90-degree transition that has been around for many years. It works well. Not to be confused with the Simple Spiral, which has no transition guides, although is often fitted with a non-transition guide at the 90-degree position to keep the line off the blank surface as it passes from the 0 to the first 180 guide. Generally these are only about 9 to 10 inches apart and the 90 degree guide is placed between them with no change in the spacing otherwise. ..........
