Minima stripper size for musky rod?

At a fishing expo I saw rodbuilders using double-foot Minima guides on musky rods and they say it works really well. So I'm planning a MHF musky rod using #6 double-foot minimas as runners. Can someone suggest what size to use for the stripper to get the proper height to keep the line off the foregrip? Based on a chart in the catalog, there is a big difference between #16 and #20 height so I'm thinking that larger is better with a 1" diameter foregrip.

Spinning rod or conventional rod?

The size of the butt guide really depends on where you locate it. Further out will require higher frame guide. Closer in and a lower frame guide may work.

These are things that custom builders can easily figure out with static stress distribution tests.

There other suggestion that I would toss out to think about, is whether you will be using a round type reel that sits higher in the reel seat or a low-profile type reel that sits lower in the reel seat.

You can check out successful commercial rods:
For example:

[stcroixrods.com]

Or:

[stcroixrods.com]

When you check out the guide train of the first rod, you see that the first guide is essentially a tall match guide.

On the other hand, the 2nd rod is using one of the current Fuji guide trains which have a much much shorter guide foot.

Examples of successful rods with dramatically different guide trains.

Best wishes.

Right Bob, I should have said low-profile casting. Isn't there someone who has built with double-foot minimas and could just tell me what guide height works well?

I would think a 12 or a 16. I'd be tempted to try a 12 since there's no ring, But I'd order both. They should be fairly inexpensive.
