I am building a RodGeeks 804Xcomp. If I use a 12" but grip I have a measurement of 23 1/4" from stripper to front of reel seat. Or use 10" butt grip and have 25 1/4" to front of reel seat. Which one of these To choices are good? Oh by the way this is a casting rod build. Thanks for your Feedback

They are both good.

Use the one that suits you the best.
Remember, there is one rule that I have used for all of my rod building.
If there is never a significant bend in a rod blank at a particular location, you don't need a guide at that point.

That's the problem with your average guide spacing chart. You have to know where they started from to know stuff like this. Batson's spacing charts are much different, they list every component in the build, and where it is positioned.

I quit following charts and other peoples recommendations a long time ago. Every blank manufacturer has different standards and every blank made can be different from what it is "supposed to be". Just approach every blank you build on as if it is the first time you built on that model, even if it isn't. Know the purpose, the reel it will use, the handle, flex it, see were it bends, then decide how many guides it needs and where they are going. I do this with every blank just because you can't be 100% sure from model to model. The majority of the time the build will be similar in placement to other builds. It is best for you as a builder to come up with your own method of categorizing the actions and the power of the rods like the CCS and apply it to every build.
