Color Perserver Issues

I have been using color preserver for every rod that I build. The problem I have is specifically with butt wraps. I put the color preserver on just like the directions say (I use thread master), but the threads always seem to separate into clumps leaving large gaps in my design. I cannot pack my butt wraps tight, but I wouldn't assume that the color preserver would cause the threads to do that. Everything looks good when it is applied, but when I go back later, the pattern is normally destroyed in many spots due to clumping of the threads.

Any advice?

Learn to pack the threads and this won't happen. It's not the CP's fault. IT takes w hile to figure it out, but with more practice and focus on thread tension and figuring out how to pack threads this won't happen any more

Here's something to try - use a toothpick to apply single drops of CP on your centers and perhaps here and there as well. Let that dry. It will tend to tack your wrap in place.

Very often, putting on super wet coats of CP can cause the threads to swell and "clump" as you say.
