I’m looking for suggestions on what guides to use for a drop shot spinning rod I’m going to be building later this month. I decided to use a NFC DS6107-1 rod blank (due to them being on sale), this is a mag light extra-fast blank that weighs in at 1.5oz. I was looking into using the CBR LZR guides but couldn’t find much of any info about quality. I usually us Fuji (for everything) or Minima (for ultralight) but I’d like to venture out and try the LZR. I like the thin ring but wanted to know more about the durability of the Zirconium material or overall quality of CBR guides. The only time I’ve had any issue with guides was on the first rod I built with American Tackle guides. One guide ring fell completely out of the frame and the ring material seemed to scratch very easily compared to other brands.

Fuji Torzite is out of the question... I don’t want to spend $150 dollars for guides!

I am sure the LZR guides are as good as any on the market and with if not abused will work fine.

I prefer the Pac Bay Minima SV series guides. I have used them with all types of line including braids with no issues.

From the standpoint of CRB quality in general...I've used CRB guides many many times, and have never had a problem with them that wasn't my own fault.

From a durability perspective, the Zirconium ceramic should be harder and more durable than any of the aluminum oxide materials - that would include Fuji Alconite, and probably any other guide that doesn't advertise exactly what the material is
