I was just chatting with my brother who is an excellent avid wood worker as well as a master of lathe work. His speciality is turning bowels of all shapes and sized of various woods.

He demonstrated the new dust and debris containment that he had just installed in his shop.

He picked up a series of hanging rails to hang in his shop. On the inside of the rails, he installed a trolly of sorts. Then, from the trolleys he hung translucent shower curtains.

With the way t hat he set up the rails he can run in both directions with the curtains to enclose a small area of each machine in the shop that he is working on at the time.

This means that any debris or dust that is generated by the machine that he is using is/are contained in the shower curtain enclosure. This means that when he is finished with the particular machine it only takes a few minutes to shower the small area around the machine being used, as opposed to having to clean up the entire shop when he works on a machine.

Yes, he also has a dust collection on each machine. But, as much as anything it is a debris collection barrier when using his wood lathe. When, turning big objects, he will sometimes remove a piece that will fly 15 or more feet if not contained.

So, for those who wrap in their shop, as well as doing grip shaping - might consider this possibility as a help to keep the clean part of the shop clean.

But, when not being used, the barriers roll back to be stored next to the wall of the shop.
