Telescopic blanks

Anybody know where to find a collapsible telescopic blank? Haven’t located any. Would love to build one. Only option I see is to cut an existing blank and create my own. Help appreciated.

Brian,
These very nice Rain Shadow blanks are all telescopic.

Wonderful rods that will collapse to fit into a rod locker.

Brian I have some 6’10” Castaways that I bought for a high school team, unfortunately right after I got the blanks the team disbanded and I haven’t done anything with them.

Thanks. Are they telescopic in the sense that the rod collapses into itself? I have found that telescopic is also used to describe travel rods that come apart. I’m trying to build one that collapses into itself.

Thanks. I was looking at rain shadow earlier. Are they telescopic in the sense that the rod collapses into itself? I have found that telescopic is also used to describe travel rods that come apart. I’m trying to build one that collapses into itself.

Brian, Yes, I believe that they collapse into themselves.

But, to be sure, give them a call to verify.

The Rainshadow blanks mentioned are not what you're looking for. They are 1 pc. plus blanks, only 2 segments.

I think Brian is talking about the telescoping rods which are sold in the Japanese domestic market, such as Shimano’s telescoping models. [fish.shimano-eu.com]
I have not seen such telescoping rod blanks sold in the US. Might be able to find them in Europe, and obviously in Asia.

Hello All.

Walmart did sell some of the type Norman spoke of (just not shimano), they were used for panfishing anywhere from 8'-13' I don't know if they still sell them any more.

Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines.

New Bern, NC.

Brian,
The rain shadow blanks are telescoping in the sense that an 8 foot rod telescopes down to 6 feet to be able to fit into a typical boat rod locker or to make it easier to transport in a vehicle. i.e. 6 feet is easier to carry than an 8 foot rod.

If you are talking about the 6 foot rods that collapse into a foot with about 6 sections, I have only seen them in the inexpensive imported version.

For example:

The castaways are built in the same manner as the rain shadow. Daiwa used to make the type you are looking for as a complete rod but I have no idea if they still do.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I am moving on to another project. This telescopic rod is elusive!

froman earlier post..
Mark..i don,t know if anyone sells telescopic blanks but would like a source too, but i have used telescopic panfish poles like cabelas used to sell for exactly what your looking for, light power fly rods(3 to #6)..they collapsed to fit perfectly in my kickboat pouches so that i only had to make one trip to the water, drop the boat in then go fish..the cabelas panfish poles were graphite and had as many section as feet in length..easy builds..guides were mounted at joints and guide alignment was done on the water..lol. being poles they had no guides to take off just ty on what you needed..also for different size lines i just trimmed the tip section to make it stiffer..it worked very well though it didn,t cast quite as well as a true 4 weight but 35 feet was enough for me..just a thought, if you can find some panfish poles.
