I bought a Tsunami slow pitch acid wrapped rod last year and was thinking of removing the guides to make it a straight guide alignment rod. My only dilemma is if by doing so would effect the torque on the rod. I don`t know if the rod was spined correctly by the manufacturer.

It's not the spine that regards "torque" on the rod - it's the guide orientation. If the guides are on the bottom of the rod, then the rod won't twist or torque under load. If the guides are on top, the rod will attempt to twist or torque when under load. This holds true regardless of where you locate the spine (there is no such thing as correct spine orientation).

The guides dictate the bend or torque in the rod and will be the greater factor over the minor part or influence of any "spine" inherent in the rod.

If you want to remove the "wrap around guide", then do so.
No big deal. Just cut them off and put them all in line on top of the rod.
But, remember, with the guides on the bottom of the rod, there don't need to be as many guides to keep the line from touching the rod, as if the guides were on top of the rod.

So, if you want to keep the line off of the rod you may need to have more guides and they may need to be closer together to keep the line off of the rod.

However, I simply have to ask - Why do you want to rearrange the guides from their current position?
Are you having an issue with casting,, fighting the fish or landing the fish? If not, then I wonder why you want to rearrange the guides.

This rod is the first and only acid wrapped rod I have and a couple of times last year the line got wrapped around the tip while casting.Maybe I just have to use it more to get used to it.

If you were using braid and the line got wrapped around the tip, why don't you remove the tip and replace it with one of the tips that have the heavy angle on it to prevent these tip wraps. Yes, they really do work to reduce tip line twists.
