Dear American Tackle People,
Please bring back the original AMJ 843 Matrix blank. If anyone has one or more I’ll pay an unreasonable price. That is all, Thanks Jeff Re: AMJ 843 Matrix from American Tackle

Thanks for replying Don.
The 843 was the Golden Rule for my grumpy Gulf Coast wading folks and myself. I built 20+ on that blank and there is only (2) left still fishing, the others were KIA and after several unsuccessful repairs we had an appropriate burial. I built a couple on the MA-SJ 7 12-20 and received negative feedback in the form of grunts and sarcastic remarks about my rod building skills. Its a tough crowd. I had a little success by adding 14" to the MA-P 7 8-14 but it has the draw backs of adding blank to blank in the butt. I had considered the SJ 7/8-14 but the extra $30 deterred a purchase and time spent building another possible failure. We use 25 and 30# braid with 40lb leaders which of course is well above twice the rating but know one has been seriously injured when they snap a rod so we build another replacement without regard to the laws of physics or personal safety. Typical behavior from a bunch of retired Fire Fighters that made a living saving guys from poor decisions. I'll take your recommendation and build a couple and let you know if I regain any of my lost credibility. Thanks, JM Re: AMJ 843 Matrix from American Tackle

Tried using United Composites DHX blanks? I know no one who has broken one, some of mine have been abused almost 20 years. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
