Since we had the input on Winn Grip durability a few weeks ago, what is everyone's opinion on carbon fiber grips holding up under heavy use.

There are no issues with wear! My builds are all bass and inshore so I cannot attest to heavy saltwater use. It is the only thing I will build with. In speaking with the individual who developed them wear has not been an issue!

Over a decade on mine, no issues, work great in rod holders for salmon, steelhead, walleye, etc.

As one of the co-originators of the foam-core carbon-fiber skinned grips, I can tell you that they are as durable or more so than other grip types. Easily.

Keep in mind that they can be refinished if need be.

it appears that once you cover these foam cores with epoxy it doesn,t matter what you use either carbon sleeves or flock or granulated cork they are very, very durable.

Hows the durability if they are not coated?

You can't crush or bend them by hand (6lb and up) but you can dent and chip them in rough use. They really need to be topcoated, sleeved, etc., with something.

Been using carbon fiber since the 1970's
First the pre-made tubes from Lew's and a few others. Then after Tom/Andy introduced them, been using both home made and pre-made.
In 40 some years, have NEVER seen one fail
