I've never worked with Dragon Scale. What can you expect to see after the first coat of epoxy? I would think you would have a ton of bubbles. Any comments would be appreciated! Re: Dragon Scale and Epoxy

I have only done them with drywall tape under, (sorry Jim). Never used CP, never have any issues. I keep the temp at about 85f while turning and watch it for a while. If I should see any bubbles beginning to form (I usually don't) I disperse them by blowing thru a straw across the wrap. I always blow thru the straw across my mixed finish in the cup before starting to coat. This gets rid of a lot if not all bubbles in the mix. Others may do things differently, this is what I do. I do not attempt to coat all wraps on the rod at once. So, did you do a proper thread underwrap or use tape like us lazy guys? I'm sure thread under likely looks better and you would have more flexibility to your pattern, but mine look pretty good to me. This is a great thing to experiment with on a scrap blank if you've never done it before. (hint) Have a good holiday. Re: Dragon Scale and Epoxy

I agree. I have only used drywall tape but have had outstanding results. I usually don’t use CP unless I’m using nylon thread. Color fast thread has not had any issues for me. Just finished an ice rod with dragon scale and it came out awesome! If bubbles are a concern, either blow on it or pass a flame by it several times. Good luck!

Bill, google Jim Trelikes dragonscale wrap. It looks as though you wrapped thread over top of a fish net on the blank. Most use metallic thread as the top wrap. And black metallic is said not to work. Don't know, never tried it. The fat guy in the red suit gets all the facetime, but it's we toymakers who make the whole thing fly! Have a good one.
