I have the older RX7 version which is very much the same action and grain window. I've had my 10' 8" 5 wt since Batson introduced them 10+ years ago so I've got some miles on it. Since it tops out at 285 grains it's probably more in the 4 wt switch grain window. Mine likes a 250 grain Commando skagit or a 265 gr. Wulff Ambush. They are moderate fast, softer and deep loading rods so don't expect wind beating power and line speed. If you face windy conditions and need to cast long you might want a faster & stiffer blank. Typical Rainshadow with straight blank sections and excellent ferrule fit. I still use mine and it has withstood some banging around. Also, they replaced the broken tip with a Revelation section and the only difference is the natural graphite finish looks slightly different.

Heavens yes.

It's a great blank and still prominent in my booth at shows. A great rod for big trout, light steelhead, throwing streamers, indicator fishing, on and on. It's a moderate action rod as a lot of switch rods tend to be but every customer I've built one for just loves them. I also use a 250 Grain shooting head for shad in the springtime here as well. Just a great rod.

The Immortal 6 Wt. switch is a much different blank, crisper and more intended for 2-handed casting.

Terry
