Pac Bay Match reduction

I am reworking a spinning rod. I ended up ordering the pac bay match guides for the reduction train. Before I ordered them I had been following a post comparing the Fuji KLH 16H-8H-5.5M to 20H-10H-5.5M. Because I was going to use Pac Bay match guides I compared heights of the Fuji guides to the Pac Bay match. The PBm 20---47, KLH16--42.3; PBm 10--27, KLH8--26.8; PBm 5--14.6, KLH5.5M--14.6.
I am writing for people that may be ordering Pac Bay match guides to build close to a Fuji KLH 16-8-5.5 reduction train. I believe the Pac Bay match 20-10-5 sizes would be a closer match, for height, then the Pac Bay 16-8-5. This would not be a big difference, just closer.

Gary,
You could go the way that you are going, or you could just use a match guide for the stripper and then drop down to sv guides for the next two reduction guides followed by runners to the tip top.

The first guide or stripper settles the line and then, one can drop down to shorter guides.

You can try it both ways to see how each method works for you.

Take care

I really like the Minima M guides on UL and L powered rods, I use the 16M, 8M, 5M reduction train on rods using small 500 to 2000 size reels. On L to M powered rods I may use the 20M, 10M, 5M reduction train when using larger reels, and/or on rods longer than 7’6”. The 16M reduction train really works extremely well. The small difference in height from the KLH guides is not a big deal for me, but the weight difference is. I have extensively experimented with both reduction trains and they both work great. On very light rods the weight reduction using the Minima guide trains is quite noticeable. Proportionally, most of the weight saving occurs in the reduction train.
