Looking for a blank in the 10.5 - 11 foot range rated for standard 4 wt. line or Skagit line in 200-300 grain range for Rocky Mountain trout streams such as Madison, Yellowstone, Bitterroot, Big Hole, Blackfoot. Wet flies, nymphs, small and medium streamers, the occasional dry fly. Suggestions?

The rods I have fished with your grain specs are mostly 2 wt. rods, 300 - 450 gr. is more like a 4 wt.

Thanks, Spencer. Perhaps I need a 2 or 3-weight. Suggestions? What have you been fishing?

R. B. Meiser blanks. He'll also telll you what line work best with his rods/blanks if you ask him. Some, if not all his blanks used to be CTS blanks built to his specs.

If you want to go the light way you could build a rainshadow Eternity 1064. True 4wt, probably good with a 175-200gr skagit, but also excellent with a wf4f single handed.

I have heard of some making Euro Nymph type rods into light weight switch/spey. I just wonder how the flex might be.

I am confused. Wouldn't a 4wt switch be a 7wt single handed?
