Spoke to a friend of mine the other day who told me he uses flex coat 2 part 15 min epoxy to wrap guides for clients who need their rod in a hurry. He says he applies it with a small spatula and when it dries its as smooth and good looking as any rod guide finish, He said it stands up well to the elements. Any feedback?

Over time you won't be happy with it, no UV protection, it's a whole different type epoxy.

For an emergency repair to do in the field, when there is no other choice.

But, as soon as possible, the rod and guide needs to be cleaned up and redone correctly.

5 minute epoxy is quite different than thread coating epoxy.

If I was to re-do a guide, I'd much whether remove and cleanup finish which is a potting resin, instead of an adhesive.

In an emergency and the two part is the only epoxy available then use it. I would not redo it unless it gives me trouble.

If it is a matter of redoing it now or later I prefer later because there is always a chance one would get tired of the rod and discard it for whatever reason so the time and effort for a re work is moot.

In an emergency I have used clear nail polish which at the time was easier to get than epoxy. It held up long enough for us to forget it was there.

Spencer and Roger are right its best to use the finish designed for wraps.
