60# braid on a 30-50# blank?

What's your input on using this blank with 60 pound braid? - [www.mudhole.com]

I can't remember if I have 50 or 60 # braid on my reel.

Or do you think I'm better off with this blank? - [www.mudhole.com]

The reason I wanted to go with the former is due me using lighter jigs. I hear if your rod is too stfff, it won't impart the proper action to the jig. I doubt I'll use jigs upward of 9oz.

No problem bass fisherman use 60 # braid with rods rated much lower without any problems.

I know nothing about 9 oz jigs, but a too stiff action with a 3/16 jig doesn't work very well. Use your drag and how you handle the rod to control the load on it.

Chris, you will be fine with 50-65 lb braid. Buy the blank you want based on lure rating. Much much more important.

Really the only thing that gets messed up casting is a heavier lure than what the rod is rated for. The line diameter being smaller will not effect this. The main problems I have seen with barid is that it is so thin it can get into the crack between the spool and the reel housing on a casting reel and trying to haul bigger fish in the boat because the line is stronger.
