I thought you guys would be the people to ask this question to! I have 3 Black Widow Rods from Jigging World (150 gram) and am looking to see if anyone has any recommendations or knows of any blanks that are similar in action (parabolic). I am happy with them, just curious as I like trying new rods etc etc.

Will someone please define parabolic for me. Thank you

Parabolic blanks bend throughout their entire length instead of "shutting off" at some point down from the tip.

Any rod will tend to flex down into the butt as more and more pressure is applied. Parabolic is another term for a slow action rod, which will immediately flex well down into and along its entire length even with light pressure applied.

If you look at the pictures on the black board, just imagine that your fishing pole is the right half of the picture such that the upper right hand corner is the butt of the rod. Then, the tip of the rod would be the bottom center of the picture in the video.

So, then, if you lay that picture on the side, you will see the shape of the parabola equaling the shape of the loaded rod.

Don't put down the lack of hair on the teacher.

For the folks who have hair, their hair becomes a remote antenna to give the person who has the particular head in question - a remote chance of stopping head movement before contacting an immovable object.

But, for folks like myself who are hair limited, there is no remote antenna to sense oncoming objects to the first sense of danger is when the bare head contacts the immovable object.

Just a hazard of the hair limited folks. As a result, the use of a hat, cap, or hard hat, helps to minimize the cuts, scrapes, and bruises that are common and routine for folks who are hair deprived.

Norman, thank you for the info. I am well aware of the Black Hole Rods but I did not know about the Revelation blank from Batson. It seems very promising and I may buy one shortly...Black Friday pending that is! Ha! Thank you for the info again!

At times of the year, when I have been doing a lot of mind numbing work so to speak, I have to use red spotted pillows on my bed to camouflage the spots transferred from my skull bumps. I do my best to try to always wear a hat or hard hat, to minimize this issue when working in skull numbing conditions.
