Do sub freezing temps have any effect on graphite blanks? Like when banks get delivered to my house here in Wisconsin and left outside for hours in temps possibly well below freezing? Any need to be concerned about extreme cold temps? Re: Graphite Blanks and Freezing Temps

They make aviation parts out of the stuff, it gets cold up there and they are under some serious stresses. Re: Graphite Blanks and Freezing Temps

Now, if you have any water trapped inside the hollow tubes which constitute your ice fishing rod, whether it's a graphite or a glass rod . . . Re: Graphite Blanks and Freezing Temps

One of the good reasons to use only solid material ice fishing rods. Re: Graphite Blanks and Freezing Temps

I would not worry about the low temperature range of graphite. Graphite will handle any temperature range we can encounter,
Most of the concern is directed to the maximum temperatures of graphite. A good rule of thumb before you use the rod for fishing, repair or any other activity is to let the rod stabilize to ambient temperature before use to avoid or minimize thermal shock. Re: Graphite Blanks and Freezing Temps
