One brand of epoxy over another

I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on using two brands of epoxy together. Through some research i found some people mix 2 brands before application. What i want to know is putting one on and drying, then apply 2nd. I have threadmaster lite on and dry. Can i put a coat of flex coat high build over it? Thanks in advance

I have put other brands of epoxy over flex coat after ten years of being in the sun and water with no problem and it always dries and looks like new again. I hope this helps and I hope I am understanding you right it should not be a problem at all good luck.

Should be no problem. I would let the first cure a few days before applying second. There may be scuffing required if you allow too much time between. Read the instructions.

I'm with Michael , are you dissatisfied with the way one performs , i have used Threadmaster lite but it's drying time was too long for me so i put regular Threadmaster over it and it came out just fine .

Mitchell,
I cannot see why applying a different second coat of epoxy over an initial coat of a different epoxy would cause problems. While not in the same league as Ralph O’Quinn, most of the different brands of thread finish are very similar; just variations on the same theme. As Lynn mentioned, to minimize any possible inter-reaction, allowing the first coat to cure before the application of the different second coat may be beneficial.

They are basically all the same chemistry and one coat over another should be fine.

I've put PRoKote over Threadmaster light once and it was fine. But that's my one and only experience of mixing things up.

99% identical chemistry. they are all modified BIS-A type epoxy with amine hardeners. you can put flex coat on and let it dry, then put prokote on afterwards. if too much time is allowed between the coats, the mechanical intercoat adhesion will be reduced and light scuffing will be needed before the 2nd coat is applied.
