Using a more “castable” guide train on a vertical jogging blank?

I want to build a vertical jigging rod, but I want to be able to use land based for big tarpon.
Is it silly to have a guide train suitable for maximum casting but a blank suitable for vertical jigging? Can someone help me out on the guide train needed for this idea. The reel is a Quantum Cabo 80 loaded with 50 pound braid. It’s a CBVJ6060 blank. 6 foot 40-60# Re: Using a more “castable” guide train on a vertical jogging blank?

Chris,
If you have a good guide train for casting, it will certainly work just fine for vertical jigging. About the only thing different in the guide train might be that you would put a larger stripper guide on the rod, rather than a smaller one that could be used primarily for vertical jigging with no casting. I assume that this is a rod that is set up with a casting reel as opposed to a spinning reel? Take care Re: Using a more “castable” guide train on a vertical jogging blank?

Robert,
Thanks for the update. Since you have a spinning rod, I would just set the rod up for a typical spinning rod set up for casting and then vertical jig with it as needed. Take care Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
