Northern NJ rod buidling supplies

I normally only order by rod building supplies online through the vendor list to the left. I would like to check out a shop in northern NJ when I go to the Highlands to jump on a striper headboat. I have not seen many options in that area. I know there are some further south (Brielle NJ) but Im not aware of any north of there. Anyone?

Ken:
Not to many options, Brogan in Point Pleasant, Some of the Tackle Shop's along Route 36 in the Monmouth, and Highland's area use to have Rod Building supplies as did Fairfield Tackle (AKA Newark Sinker ) in Fairfield N.J. I use the Mudhole for most of my supplies.

Thx Rich. Bogan's was the one I referring to that I know of. I seen some rod blanks in the shops on the way to the Highlands but not much more than that.

Further south Grumpy's in Seaside has a pretty decent supply of blanks and FUji guides in stock - they even stock TItanium KW's.

I used to go to Newark Sinker in Fairfield all the time , that was a great place . Seems most everything i appreciated in the past no longer exists even many catalogs , not a fan of the technology era.

It all depends on what your looking for because the shops from the Highlands and going north on 36 and 35 have limited items. Fred's on 35 in Morgan had National thread and some blanks ,but if you find something there, its by chance. Julian's on 36 is another shop that (by Chance) you might find what your looking for. The best advice I could give is to call ahead to see if they have rod building gear. Every shop in central NJ had some sort of rod building items but 90% of them are gone now.
After the holidays ,(Jan to April) go to the fishermen flea markets, you'll find rod building stuff cheap.

I was thinking of hitting up some of the flea markets over the winter-time months. Been in Julians, not much that I saw..like you said, hit or miss it seems. The only consistent place Ive been to is Bogan's tackle where they have another room of just rod building stuff. Last I was there, they said to stop over at Fish Poison (Kevin Bogan's place). Didn't get a chance as I was boarding a headboat.

Ken, Mike Garone has a shop right down the road from Brielle B&T. While he doesn't have too much for sale regarding rod supplies, he is planning to to some seminars in his shop over the winter. He does have a pretty wide range of higher end blanks in stock.

Billy..when you say 'right down the street', is his shop a couple blocks away in the small shopping center? Im not super familiar with the area but I know how to get to the headboats in Brielle and Pt Pleasant.

Do you know where the Reel seat is on Rt 70 (it's the left the block before you pull into Brielle) Mike is about 10 blocks past that, probably 3-4 minutes from there. HEre's his shop: 56 Union Ave, Manasquan, NJ 08736
