Replacement tension piece for CRB wrapper

I recently had an issue with my CRB wrapper where I put too much tension on the 'stick' and it snapped at the placement in the wrapper. I want to get a new one, but don't want to put in an order to mudhole for $3. I will eventually get one when I order next, but looking for a quick fix.

Anyone aware of where I can get something to replace the piece?

Just go to the hardware store and pick up a piece of piano wire of an appropriate size.

Twist a loop into the end of the wire, and then, use an appropriate amount of wire for the tension rod. Take care

X2 on the piano wire, Get a few diameters and pick what tension you like best! It's cheap. Had to do the same thing as well on my son's wrapper. And you will not have a problem again. CRB needs to address this issue and modify that to wire or maybe carbon fiber.

Please do not suggest carbon fiber for the tension device. Carbon fiber is a very strong material, but it is very limited when it comes to significant bending.

Rather than bend, the carbon fiber element will likely break.

I put way to much pressure on it by tightening down the thread spool too much.

I ended up just using some 50lb rigging wire I have. Works great!

Another option is to forget about using any thread tension device.

Millions of rods are built every day with no tension device in use.

From the first rod that I built to my current rod being built, I have never used a tension device and find that I simply have no need for the device.

But, do what every works best for you and yours.
