Question: When building a multi-piece rod with tip over butt ferrules and a painted blank (mine is from RodGeeks), do I need to, or should I, do anything to the painted surface of the butt end that will slip into the tip end? Like buff off the shiny surface, etc? Or just use it as is?
Thanks in advance. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/07/2019 07:39PM by Bob Ginther. Re: Pained Blanks and Ferrules

Use as is. The Mfg has already allowed for the thickness of the paint when fitting the ferrule.

As Tom said " No" , use as is . I have a few RodGeeks just like your's , do not mess with the male ends all you got to do is keep debris , sand particles away from them. Re: Painted Blanks and Ferrules
