Can the older legend extreme, with the "neoprene" or molded handle can the handle be removed and a cork butt built in its place. I can build cork and install so my question is really can the handle on the older model with the molded butt handle be removed?
Thanks, Dan Grulke Re: Older Legend Extreme

Dan,
Give St. Croix a call and ask about the construction to be sure. However, I believe that the blank is their standard blank of the day and the handle was a piece of molded nylon that was glued to their conventional graphite blank. Assuming that this is the case that you will check by calling St. croix, you can just use an abrasive cut off wheel on a dremel tool and run it down each side of the grip and or reel seat so that you are close but not to the blank. After doing this on both sides, just take a wide bladed screwdriver, put it into the slot cut by the wheel, and with a pair of vice grips gripping the handle of the screwdriver, give the screwdriver that is in the cut slot of the handle a good twist. The wide screwdriver will split the grip in two as the screwdriver is rotated. Then, repeat for the other side. With the grip off of the blank, just use a heat gun to heat up any adhesive on the blank to soften it, and then use a stright edged razor blade held at 90 degrees to the blank to scrape off any glue and or any remaining handle and or reel seat.
